Maggie is an active tenant from the West Midlands. With a background in finance, her knowledge as a tenant has been invaluable in customer services and communicating with other tenants and contractors.
Maggie initially became involved in tenant engagement when Midland Heart organised workshops to see what residents would like to see from a repairs service. From this group of residents, a team were selected to help oversee the procurement of new contracts. Maggie was part of this team and sits on the Customer Maintenance Review Group (CMRG) for Midland Heart.
Maggie mainly works from home, speaking to tenants from all over England and Scotland conducting telephone surveys.
Maggie says: “I have the opportunity to raise the standard of the way tenants are treated by the contractors in my area and nationwide. I have seen what a difference a good contractor makes to the wellbeing and contentment of tenants, and I would like to help make this to happen for all tenants. I believe whole -heartedly that asert can make this happen. Good landlords and great contractors make happy tenants and that will make for a higher standard of housing without costing the earth.”
Stuart lives in Lancashire and started working with asert September. He is a well-known face in the tenant sector, facilitating a number of workshops and conferences. His experience in complaints and inspections has helped him to increase his knowledge of housing and contractor issues, which has benefited his community. Previous experience in the voluntary sector means his skills are further suited to his new role as tenant inspector.
Stuart says: “I am really enthusiastic and excited about my new role and I am looking forward to a positive future with asert”
“I began to work for assert in February 2012 as a Customer Service Champion. The home based position allows me the flexibility that I need to work around other commitments and family life, though I really enjoy going to the main office for training days and meeting. My training has given me the skills and confidence to interact with many people on a daily basis at a professional level. I enjoy speaking to people and I gain huge satisfaction from knowing that I am helping tenant’s and resident’s all around the county. I often get customers thanking me for listening.
Alongside my customer service role I am a self employed designer making bags and accessories. I do both my jobs from my own studio/office near my home near Halifax, West Yorkshire. With a background in design, including a degree in textiles and a diploma in web design, I am delighted to have more recently been offered the opportunity to become involved with the building of asert’s new web site”.
“I am Lauren Annies, a Customer Care Officer for asert. I joined the company in July 2012 and have to say this is one of the best jobs I have ever had! I really enjoy speaking with tenants on a daily basis whether it is asking survey questions relating to recent works, or meeting with tenants at the quarterly meetings, or over seeing jobs from start to finish and getting a good feed back from the tenants. Part of my role is to organise projects within the communities and these can be very satisfying, especially when the local residents get involved.’’
